Sheep Farming
While the current operational plan for Bazigoni Livestock & Produce Farm primarily focuses on cattle and goats, the principles of sustainable livestock management, fodder production, and efficient breeding can readily extend to sheep farming in future phases.
The existing infrastructure and land use strategies, particularly our rotational grazing system and fodder cultivation, provide a strong foundation for integrating sheep. Sheep, like goats, can efficiently utilize pasture land and contribute to a diversified farm produce portfolio.

Our Benefits
Rotational Grazing
- Rotational Grazing: Adapting our paddock system to suit sheep grazing patterns, ensuring optimal pasture utilization and recovery.
Fodder Management
- Fodder Management: Utilizing our established fodder cultivation (Napier grass, brachiaria, and potential legumes) to provide high-quality feed, supplemented as needed.
Breeding Programs
- Breeding Programs: Implementing targeted breeding strategies to enhance genetic traits for meat production, focusing on breeds suitable for the Ugandan climate and market.
Veterinary Care
- Veterinary Care: Extending our preventative health programs to include vaccinations and deworming specific to sheep, ensuring a healthy flock.
While sheep farming is not explicitly detailed in our current three-phase plan, our flexible and adaptable operational model allows for future diversification into other livestock, such as sheep, to meet evolving market demands and optimize farm productivity.
